Intact expands Caribbean and Maldives network
Intact Insurance has broadened its Intact Global Network by partnering with Guardian Group and Ceylinco Insurance, raising the network’s reach to more than 170 countries and territories. Guardian Group brings coverage across the Caribbean, adding Aruba, Anguilla, Antigua, Barbados, Belize, Bonaire, the British Virgin Islands, Curaçao, Grenada, Guyana, Montserrat, Saba, Saint Eustatius, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, Sint Maarten and St Vincent. Ceylinco Insurance adds the Maldives to the portfolio.
The expanded network enables businesses to purchase coordinated multinational programmes, with locally compliant policies issued by the new partners under Intact’s central oversight. Barbara O’Reilly, vice-president of global network and multinational for the UK and Europe, said the growth gives brokers and customers confidence in accessing high-quality local expertise and consistent service wherever they operate, and supports Intact’s ambition to become a leading global specialty lines insurer.
Intact’s move aligns with its UK growth strategy; the company rebranded RSA and NIG as Intact Insurance across the UK, Ireland and Europe in October 2025 and aims to increase its UK commercial lines premium from £2.7 billion to £5 billion by 2030. The addition of Caribbean and Maldives partners comes as multinational capability sharpens competition, with rivals such as Starr, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance and HDI Global also expanding local footprints.
For brokers handling UK-headquartered clients with operations in the Caribbean or the Maldives, the new partners provide an additional option for issuing local policies in regions where multinational capacity can be limited. These markets feature significant hospitality, financial services and offshore activity, and the Caribbean’s high hurricane exposure makes locally compliant property cover with local claims support especially important. Brokers are advised to verify each partner’s handling of policy issuance, premium tax and claims service, and to understand Intact’s coordination process across the programme.
Why it matters
The network expansion gives UK brokers a broader, locally supported option for multinational clients in high-risk Caribbean and Maldives markets.
