Allstate plans to introduce a personal agentic assistant (PAA) for consumers in early 2027, CEO Tom Wilson said during the insurer’s earnings call. The PAA, still unnamed, will be powered by Allstate’s Large Language Intelligent Ecosystem (ALLIE) and is designed to handle transactions that customers might otherwise direct to an agent or the company website.

Wilson highlighted that personal lines new business is up 125% compared with 2019 and is currently divided among exclusive agents, independent agents, and direct-to-consumer channels. The PAA is intended to serve customers who prefer a machine to manage their insurance needs, providing coverage context and reducing the number of clicks required to complete a transaction.

Allstate already operates a customer service chatbot called Ask Allstate, and the upcoming PAA will integrate with existing digital assistants such as Muse. Wilson described the move as “marketing to machines and people,” emphasizing that the technology could enhance value for policyholders while expanding Allstate’s digital reach.

The development of the PAA has been underway for more than a year, with foundational technology and algorithms now in testing. Wilson acknowledged regulatory, privacy and cybersecurity considerations, noting that Allstate will address these issues as the product progresses. He expressed confidence that early entry into the market will position the insurer to deliver increased value and maintain a competitive edge.

Allstate’s earnings report also noted a 45% drop in Q3 net income due to higher catastrophe losses, underscoring the importance of cost-effective digital solutions. The insurer sees the PAA as a way to offset such pressures by streamlining customer interactions and potentially reducing reliance on traditional agent channels.

Why it matters

The PAA could reshape how insurers engage policyholders, prompting other carriers to accelerate AI-driven service offerings.
